**You may notice that if you choose "book chapter" and upload a document, the system might automatically changes the Type to "Article" and changes the field information. If you'd like to change back to "Book Chapter," you just need to choose it again from the drop-down menu. The system tries to take information from the article and parse it into the fields for you, but many times the parsing is incorrect.

If you've acquired scanned copies of articles or book chapters (the scans MUST follow copyright - see the copyright tab for more information), you can upload them into your reading list.
If you don't already have an item created for the scanned PDF, follow these instructions directly below. If you already have an item created, skip down to the next section, Uploading a scanned PDF to an existing item.
Once in your reading list, click Add Items +
Click the Create tab and fill out the required fields.
Scroll down to the box that says Drag files here to upload them. Add the file by either dragging the file to the box or by clicking the box to search for a file saved to your computer.
When the PDF finishes uploading, click the radio button next to This resource falls within our institution's fair use guidelines.
Click Save.
If you have multiple chapters to upload for the same book, you'll repeat these steps for each chapter/scanned PDF.
Click the three dots next to the item where you'd like to add a scanned PDF and choose Edit item.
Change the Type to Book chapter or Article. You may need to type in some additional information into the citation fields (i.e. Chapter Title, chapter number, pages, etc.).
Click the Drag files here to upload them box to browse for your file, or drag/drop from the folder location.
When the PDF finishes uploading, click the radio button next to This resource falls within our institution's fair use guidelines.
Click Save.
Your citation will say Being Prepared until you publish the reading list.
When you click publish, the citation’s status will change to sent.
When library staff approves your citation, it will say complete and your students will be able to download the pdf.
