Description

Exploring GeoAI Platforms — ArcGIS, Tableau, and Power BI for Spatial Data Visualization

Workshop Description:
This workshop introduces graduate students to the emerging field of GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) by exploring the capabilities of three leading platforms: ArcGIS, Tableau, and Power BI. These tools enable users to integrate AI-powered geospatial analysis with powerful data visualization, offering enhanced insights for research, business, and policy-making.

Participants will learn how to use these platforms to visualize spatial data, uncover geographic patterns, and apply AI-driven analytics for problem-solving. The workshop will cover how each platform supports spatial data analysis and visualization, their GeoAI functionalities, and how to integrate spatial data from various sources such as satellite imagery, sensor data, and publicly available GIS datasets.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to harness the strengths of ArcGIS, Tableau, and Power BI to create insightful spatial visualizations, making them valuable tools in academic research, urban planning, environmental studies, and other fields involving geospatial data.

Workshop Objectives:
Introduce the concepts of GeoAI and its applications in spatial data analysis.
Provide an overview of the key features of ArcGIS, Tableau, and Power BI in geospatial data visualization.
Teach participants how to import and visualize spatial data on these platforms.
Demonstrate AI and machine learning techniques within the context of geospatial analysis.
Enable participants to apply these tools for advanced spatial data exploration, prediction, and decision-making.

Expected Benefits to Students:
GeoAI Proficiency: Students will gain proficiency in working with GeoAI platforms, allowing them to apply AI-driven geospatial analytics to their research projects and professional tasks.
Spatial Analysis Skills: By exploring and comparing three platforms, students will develop a robust skill set for visualizing and analyzing spatial data across multiple tools.
Decision-Making Insights: Students will be able to use geospatial insights to inform decisions in fields such as environmental science, urban planning, public health, and business analytics.
Multi-Platform Expertise: Students will learn the unique strengths of ArcGIS, Tableau, and Power BI, enabling them to choose the best platform for various types of geospatial data visualization and analysis tasks.
Real-World Applications: The workshop will provide practical, real-world examples of spatial data visualization, allowing students to apply their skills in academic, policy, and industry settings.
