Keep up to date in your field

  • Monitor the web for content which you are interested through a general web alerting service

For example, Google Alerts
The service sends emails to you when it finds new results—such as web pages, newspaper articles, blogs, or scientific research—that match your search term(s).

  • Using RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way of getting updated web content or 'feed' but only from web sites such as news sites that you've selected.

Step 1: Get a RSS Reader such as Feedly or Netvibes

More readers can be found at The Ultimate RSS Toolbox

Step 2: Get RSS feeds
Once you have an RSS Reader you can subscribe to receive the latest content from sites that interest you. Look out for the orange RSS icon  and follow instructions to add the feed to your reader.
