What they are and how to use them

Journal Indexing in Web of Science and Scopus

Various academic journals are indexed by the two main citation databases (Scopus, Web of Science). They are included for a variety of reasons, but what about journals which do not appear in them? There are a number of reasons why a journal could be missing from any database, but the most common reason is that they do not meet the indexing requirements of either WoS or Scopus. This page will go over the major criteria, and explain what they are.

Elsevier uses the following criteria to determine its editorial process when selecting new journals to include in Scopus.
