In line with stated course learning objectives, group assignments are required for this course to facilitate student learning of collaboration, public engagement and scholarly communication skills. One of these assignments involves collaborating with your group on a focused, scholarly research project and the presentation of this research to your course peers, as well as to the public.
For your Small Group Research Project, you will select one peer-reviewed, scholarly article relevant to data science and its impact on the research topic assigned to your group, read and understand the article, and relate the article to previous class discussions and readings in an argumentative essay.
The project will consist of a series of written assignments that will culminate in a well-structured, argumentative essay that engages with the content of this course, i.e. course readings and discussions of these readings.
In addition to the written assignments that make up your Small Group Research Project, your group will present your research through your Small Group Poster and Public Presentation. You will be asked to critique your own group’s presentation, as well as the presentations of other groups.
