Alternative Means of Accessing the Times

The Purdue University Libraries’ subscription to The New York Times web site provides access to breaking news as well as blogs and other online content not included in the Purdue University Libraries' databases that cover the paper. On the other hand, the databases allow unlimited access to the paper’s content and more powerful searching capabilities. Students, faculty, and staff who wish to use The New York Times for research should access the paper via the following means:

  • Factiva allows for easy browsing of the paper by section, but only covers the last two weeks of the paper.
  • ProQuest Historical Newspapers allows for image access to the paper from its initial issue in 1851 through 2017.
  • ProQuest Newsstream allows for full text access to the paper from 1980 through its current issue.
