Bloomberg Market Concepts

Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), also known as Bloomberg Certification, is a self-paced e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets. BMC consists of 3 sections - Core Concepts (includes four modules - Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities), Getting Started on the Terminal and Portfolio Management. The sections are woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics and television.

The course is available through the Bloomberg Terminal at BMC <GO> or through the Bloomberg for Education website


Getting Started:

  1. Create a profile.
    • Start by logging in to the Bloomberg terminal in the Parrish Library. If the Bloomberg workstation is overly busy, you can make a reservation online at
    • Click on the Bloomberg icon from the desktop.
    • Once Bloomberg is launched, you are prompted to press Enter to begin. The next screen is the Login. Instead of using our group Bloomberg login, select “Create a New Login.”
    • A form appears; enter your name and address, and create a new password. Click on the word “Continue” on the screen.
    • Choose a Login Validation method, either a text message or automated voice call.
    • Enter the code that they sent via text or voice call
    • Complete the profile (a few more fields to fill in)
