Using Health and Social Data to Predict Student Success: A Data Competition: Datathon Schedule

This guide contains tips, tutorials, and information for participants competing in a datathon, or data competition, that examins student health and social data to predict student success.


This three-week datathon is self-directed. Participants will work independently, on their own set schedule, to submit weekly project updates. At the end of Weeks 2 and 3, judges will receive submissions and provide feedback and tips for improvement. Winning projects will be selected at the end of Week 3.
The datathon schedule is as follows:
Live Online Information/Q&A Session: January 31 at 5 pm or February 3 at 10 am (Webex invitation will be emailed to registrants)
Self -Directed Hacking: February 4 - 12; submit progress for evaluation by noon on February 12
Judges return recommendations by February 14
Self-Directed Hacking: February 15 - 22; submit progress for evaluation by noon on February 22
Judges return recommendations by February 25
Self-Directed Hacking: February 26 - March 4; final submissions due by midnight on March 4
Winners Announced: March 6
