Government Information on Automobiles: Congressional Resources

Provides access to government and non-government information resources on automobiles/cars and how government policies have sought to influence their technological development, consumer safety, and environmental impact.

Congressional Resources

Congress is responsible for approving new legislation, revising existing legislation, funding government programs, and conducting oversight of these programs.  This legislation may also require federal agencies to produce reports on federal agency program performance in areas affecting cars and individual drivers.  Examples of congressional information resources include:

ProQuest Congressional  Database of historic U.S. government documents including congressional debates, congressional committee hearings and legislative reports, and selected U.S. executive branch documents between 1789-1932.
Congressional Record Bound (1873-2001, 2003-2015) Congressionl Record Daily (1994-present)  Provides the text of congressional debates, recorded votes, and legislation.

Congressional Budget Office (CBO)  Provides cost estimates on legislation reported by congressional committees, analyzes the federal budget, and reports on budgetary implications of federal programs
