New Faculty Orientation: Borrow/Renew

Resources to help you become oriented and familiar to Purdue Libraries

Please have your active PUID to check out material from the libraries. Notify the Libraries if your PUID or Libraries’ materials are lost or stolen.

Core Loan items (most books, government documents, juvenile literature, maps, microform, new books, technical reports, theses) are due in 16 weeks for faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

Loan Periods for non-core loan items are:

Serials and Journals 2 days for journals
Course Reserves Vary by library and by type of material
Reference Books Vary by library
Media One week
Equipment One or three days
Specialized Material Libraries may assign different loan periods for specialized material
Recalled Materials Due 10 days after a Recall is placed

You can renew the core loan material you borrowed before the due date passes to extend the loan period. Limited Loan materials, with the exception of media, are not renewable.

  • Online in My Library Account
  • By phone (765) 494-0369
  • In person at the circulation desk of any Purdue West Lafayette campus library

You can submit the Request for Proxy Services form to authorize another person to check out items on your behalf.
