These are three databases to start off with when searching for news on a particular company/industry or for searching for business news in general. To stay current with the latest business and economic trends related to chemistry and similar fields, browse the latest issues of the trade magazine listed in the box below.
- Business Source PremierMagazines and journals in the fields of business and management.
- LexisNexis AcademicUnder "Search the News," be sure to change your "By Source Type" to expand or narrow your search.
- FactiviaBusiness news and articles, current company and stock information, and the Wall Street Journal full-text. Large selection of international newspapers and business publications. The most difficult of the three to use.
Important Chemical Trade Journals/Magazines
- Chemical and Engineering NewsWeekly news magazine of the American Chemical Society. Often has special features on various industry segments (paints and coatings, drug development, specialty chemicals, etc.), and also publishes regularly themed issues such as:
* Employment Outlook (approx. every Nov.)
* Employment and Salary Survey (approx. every Mar.)
* Facts & Figures (sales and earnings from the chemical industry) (approx. every Jul.)
